My Philosophy for Teaching Math
As a teacher, I believe that every child can be successful in math when they are supported, encouraged, and taught in ways that make sense to them. In my second-grade classroom, I focus on creating a learning environment where students feel safe to take risks, learn from mistakes, and grow.
I use hands-on materials like counters, cubes, number lines, and visual charts so that students can see and touch what they’re learning. For example, when we learn about addition and subtraction, we might use small objects or draw pictures to help us solve problems.
We also play interactive math games that make learning both fun and educational. My goal is to help students see math not as something to fear but as a set of tools they can use every day.
